Extrusion Blow Molding process and its safety measures

Extrusion blow molding

Extrusion blow molding is a procedure through which the plastic is melted and extruded into a hollow tube. Later the parison is captured by closing it into a cooled metal mold. Then air is blown into the parison, expanding it into the shape of hollow container, bottle or any other part. When the plastic get properly cooled, the mold is opened and ejected from the part. The most common extruded materials are Acrylic, Polyester, Polycarbonate, PVC, Polystyrene, Polyethylene, etc. The two variations of Extrusion Blow Molding are Continuous and Intermittent. It is again divided into sub categories that are as following:

Continuous extrusion equipment

  • rotary wheel blow molding systems
  • shuttle machinery

Intermittent extrusion machinery

  • reciprocating screw machinery
  • accumulator head machinery

Safety Precautions for extrusion blow molding are:

  • Make sure to keep machine and floor oil free
  • It is necessary to keep machine and floor free of pellets
  • Never go over or under machine guards
  • When hydraulic pumps are running don’t try to climb between the tie bars
  • Keep in mind to wear adequate noise protection
  • The extinguisher should be on 75 feet, so know location of portable fire extinguishers
  • Make sure to wear appropriate foot and eye protection for safety point of view
  • It is recommended to not to wear soft soled shoes

All these technical process require lots of practical and theoretical knowledge to come up with the final product through the large production. Several highly experienced and certified companies are located in market offering top class services to the customer companies and make sure to meet the need accordingly.
